Liz Hurley claims she felt ‘liberated’ filming an X-rated scene directed by her son.
Hurley has addressed the buzz surrounding her role in a thriller, which was written and directed by her son, Damian Hurley.
The film, which made waves as soon as its trailer dropped, drew attention in part due to a s** scene involving Elizabeth, one that her own son was behind the camera for.
“People are making a lot of fuss,” Elizabeth commented in an interview with People, referring to the scene that has stirred public interest.
The actress, widely recognized for her roles in comedies such as Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery and Serving Sara, acknowledged that several elements likely contributed to the heightened attention.
According to her, part of the intrigue comes from ‘the age difference’ between her and her on-screen partner, Pear Chiravara, who is 28 years old.
She also pointed out that ‘the fact that I’m doing it, and I’ve never really done a scene like that before,’ made it more notable.
The added twist of the scene being directed by her son only amplified public curiosity.
Despite the bold nature of the content, Elizabeth emphasized that the production was handled with sensitivity.
“While moments in the movie are quite out there and daring, there actually isn’t any nudity. Nobody’s exploited at all. We all felt comfortable doing it,” she said.
The Bedazzled star noted that as a result of feeling reassured by her son’s presence on set, she felt ‘kind of liberated,’ per Express.
The mother-son duo are no strangers to working together – they’ve previously collaborated on fashion shoots for Elizabeth’s swimwear brand.
This time, their creative partnership extended to the big screen, where Elizabeth plays Lily, a wealthy woman mourning the loss of her daughter, Rebecca, who drowned near the family’s Caribbean estate.
The story follows a group of Rebecca’s friends who reunite a year later at Lily’s beachside home, where buried secrets – including a romantic entanglement between Lily and one of the friends, Natasha – begin to surface.
Filming took place on the picturesque island of Nevis, though both Elizabeth and Damian noted that they had little time to enjoy their tropical surroundings.
“We were so rushed,” Damian explained, while Elizabeth added: “It was like, ‘Come on, let’s shoot it!’ ”
Even though the film includes scenes featuring Elizabeth in a swimsuit from her own brand, she joked that her time off set didn’t include beach lounging.
“On camera, I put a bikini on, off camera, forget about it,” she remarked.
Reflecting on the experience, Damian described the intense filming process with humor: “We did become shells of human beings and lose our minds during it… Every movie’s a war.”
