Mom Bans Peppa Pig From Household After Son Kept Repeating This Line

A mom has banned her child from watching Peppa Pig after her son kept repeating a ‘naughty’ line.

It’s hard to believe just how much information and language that children pick up everyday, while they learn about the world around them.

However, despite parents best attempts to keep what they take in completely child-friendly and PG, slip-ups can quite often happen.

Between overhearing adult conversations, watching films and TV shows, and just general observations, it’s no wonder kids often pick-up words or phrases they probably shouldn’t know.

But Peppa Pig is the last animated character we ever thought would be teaching our children ‘naughty’ lines.

Incase you have been under a rock, Peppa Pig is a bit of a British icon.

The preschool animated television series follows the story of Peppa, as she learns something new every day, and has a lot of fun with her fellow pig family and friends.

But according to one mom on TikTok, the harmless animation may be teaching children some pretty harsh phrases.

Kelly is mom to three-year-old Kia, who picked up a line from the show which she was far from impressed with.

Speaking to Kidspot, she said: “It broke my heart every time I heard it.

“Every time I heard him say it, I’d ask him, ‘where did you learn this?’

“‘We don’t say that.’”

The mom added: “I was lucky we taught him the sentence wasn’t nice quite quickly, and he stopped saying it after roughly two weeks, but it took a lot of correcting and teaching him.”

Initially, she had no idea where he had gotten the phrase from, but one day when the two of them were watching the iconic pig, everything clicked.

Kelly explained: “Kia was watching it on the TV, and just so happened the moment I looked at the screen, Peppa said it. I was in awe.

“I immediately turned it off and explained to him why, and he understood and did say ‘yes, Peppa didn’t make a good choice.’”

After hearing the phrase on the show, she even expressed to her son that Peppa had tendencies that represented a ‘bully.’

The line in question that Kia had picked up was ‘you’re not my best friend,’ which he had been using in response to being told what to do.

He even started saying it to others, but it seems the problem was quickly rectified.

She added: “Today, for his screen time, when I was browsing kids’ Netflix for him, Peppa did pass the TV, Kia did say ‘no more naughty Peppa,’ and he chose another show.”

Since banning the show in their house, she has also massively noticed a difference in Kia’s mood.

Kelly said: “If he’s watching something like Miss Rachael or Trash Truck, he is in a happy, positive mood.

“When he’s watching Peppa Pig he can be a little more sassy.”

But it’s not the only red flag she has noticed about the show.

Having explored themes in the animation more and more, her concern for other children watching has only grown.

She said: “She calls her dad fat, is very mean to her younger brother, and that made me angry that this show is teaching siblings to be mean to each other.

“Peppa is not a role model I personally as a parent would be proud for my child to learn from.

“As parents, we always monitor screen time, but small, quick sentences from shows like this can be easily missed.”
