Viewers have taken to social media to discuss the drama that focuses on a horrific injustice.

One person writes: “This series, though, is their justice as everyone who watches it will now know exactly how it was all covered up. An extremely hard watch, and the family deserves peace now.”

Another user adds: “Watched this last night, brilliant series, but was disgusted how the police covered up their actions of how they dealt with this.”

“A must watch, absolutely speechless how the police covered it up. Poor man and his family,” someone else says.

The heartbreaking series has scored 7/10 on IMDb and 88% on Rotten Tomatoes.

A 27-year-old Brazilian electrician was shot in the head by a senior firearms officer in 2005 in London.

Disney’s latest release portrays a dramatized version of these events.

In 2005, a series of coordinated s**cide bombings took place on London’s public transport system during the morning rush hour on Thursday, July 7.

Three bombs exploded simultaneously on London Underground trains, and one exploded about an hour later on a double-decker bus.

52 people were killed during the attack, and a further 700 were injured. The bombings are the deadliest attack on the U.K. since 1988.

Although emergency services and investigators immediately responded, the situation was initially chaotic, as it wasn’t clear that they were s**cide bombings.

On July 21, four other men attempted to carry out a second bombing, police launched a massive search for those expected to carry out the second attack.

Brazilian-born Jean Charles de Menezes was wrongfully identified as one of the suspects, and surveillance officers followed him to Stockwell Underground Station.

Once de Menezes entered the train, he was shot seven times in the head and once in the shoulder at close range.

The tragic case of mistaken identity led to a public outcry against the police, with people believing the authorities had intentionally misled and attempted to cover up certain facts in the de Menezes case.

No officers were prosecuted for the killing, but the Metropolitan Police was fined for breaching health and safety laws.

Suspect: The Shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes, produced by Kwadjo Dajan, stars Laura Aikman, Russell Tovey, Conleth Hill, Max Beesley, and Edison Alcaide.

The de Menezes family flew over to London for the release of the drama series, speaking with the BBC, Maria de Menezes said she never wants a mother to suffer the way she has.

“I was reassured that the truth was being told. They were going to be truthful about the story, unlike other media outlets and other reports previously, which told lies,” Maria shared.

De Menezes’ brother, Giovani da Silva, says their family was consulted during the making of the series and believes the full story will now share the truth with the world.

“We are very happy that the truth about my brother’s life is being told. The life of struggle, his roots in rural Brazil, and how he moved to another country in search of a better life,” da Silva said.
