Netflix Fans Hooked On Hit New Series That Has ‘Most Unhinged Plot Twist Ever’

A new Netflix show is being hailed as one of the most binge-worthy series in recent times.

The show dropped on the streaming giant’s platform in January and quickly became a New Year’s favorite among millions of subscribers.

And it comes complete with a development described by viewers as ‘the most unhinged plot twist ever.’

New series is a huge hit on social media

Talk of Netflix’s latest hit has spread like wildfire across social media, with X (formerly Twitter) users raving about the series almost nonstop since it began streaming.

One user posted: “Never saw that plot twist coming, I had to rewatch the last episode. A solid 9/10,” with another adding: “2 episodes in and it’s got me hooked.” While a third fan commented: “…got me binge watching like a mf.

In a review of the series, The Guardian described it as ‘ideal new year TV,’ before adding: “We are in the presence of a glossy, efficient adaptation of a bestselling thriller and it is time to switch off our brains and enjoy.

“The twists, they are plentiful. The absurdities, they multiply. The viewerly enjoyment, it increases. The script – intoxicating mercenariness aside – is serviceable. The endeavour is bingeable.”

‘Guilty pleasure’ series is certified fresh

A smash hit with critics and viewers alike, Netflix’s new thriller has been ‘certified fresh’ on Rotten Tomatoes with a score of 83%.

One reviewer wrote: “Guilty pleasure, but well written and acted. The cast is excellent and the ending satisfying.”

Another review commented on the plot twist that has everybody talking, saying: “This is the best thriller series I’ve seen in a long time. Incredible plot twist. Loved it. A definite must see.”

What is Netflix’s latest hit series about?

The series is a psychological thriller, set in Atlanta, focusing on Anna, a former news anchor who overhears news of a murder in the small Georgia town where she spent her childhood.

The official synopsis for the series reads: “Drawn by both professional instinct and unresolved ties to her past, Anna returns to Dahlonega and begins digging into the killing, convinced that the truth has been buried beneath layers of silence and half-remembered history.

“As Anna’s investigation deepens, she repeatedly clashes with Detective Jack Harper, her estranged husband who is officially assigned to the case and is deeply suspicious of her motives and involvement.”

An adaptation of a 2020 novel by Alice Feeney, the show comprises of six episodes with a run time of between 39-47 minutes each.

Who stars in the new series?

The show is led by Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated Tessa Thompson (Westworld, Selma), who plays Anna, and Emmy winner Jon Bernthal (The Wolf of Wall Street, The Bear), who plays Jack.

The supporting cast also features another Emmy nominee in the form of Pablo Schreiber (Orange Is the New Black, American Gods) and Tony nominee Marin Ireland (The Irishman, Hell or High Water).

Developed by filmmaker and director William Oldroyd (Lady Macbeth) alongside screenwriters Bill Dubuque (Ozark) and Dee Johnson (The Good Wife), the series may not sweep next year’s Emmys or Golden Globes, but it is certainly providing viewers with enough binge-worthy viewing to keep them coming back for more.

Both Thompson and Bernthal have received plaudits for their performances, which may see them both part of the conversation around awards season in 2027, even if the series itself falls short.

What is this new series that everybody’s talking about?

The show is His & Hers, and has been described as a ‘s**y book-to-screen adaptation’ and riddled with adjectives such as ‘steamy’ in more than one review.

Alice Feeney’s 2020 novel of the same name was a runaway commercial success, being translated into over 35 languages and earning widespread success (she also wrote the bestselling ‘Sometimes I Lie’).

The original novel is actually set in the UK, rather than the US state of Georgia. Another Feeney novel, ‘Rock Paper Scissors’ will also be developed for television in the near future. ‘Sometimes I Lie’ saw its television rights secured by Fox in 2019.

So if you, like so many other viewers, become hooked by Thompson, Bernthal et al, then the good news is another Feeney adaptation should not be too far away for you to feverishly consume in the near future.
