Netflix Fans Are Shocked After Realizing Who Alfred Hitchcock Actor In Ed Gein Series Actually Is

Netflix viewers have been left stunned after discovering who really plays Alfred Hitchcock in the new Ed Gein series.

Netflix’s latest iteration of the Monster series is back, this time telling the twisted story of serial killer Ed Gein.

It’s the third season of the chilling drama series to be released, and currently sits at the second-most-watched in the streaming platform’s global viewing rankings.

It was released on October 3 and, at the time of writing, holds a 54% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, along with a much harsher 19% rating from critics.

Since the show’s release, there have been over five million Google searches for Ed Gein in America alone, and more than two million in the UK.

Actor Charlie Hunnam took on the role of serial killer Gein, whose killings involved making fashion keepsakes from his victim’s bones and skin.

His crimes famously inspired both The Texas Chainsaw Massacre horror movies, so it’s safe to say the series has had viewers on the edge of their seats.

Gein’s murders also inspired the 1960’s horror Psycho, directed by British director Alfred Hitchcock.

And it seems Hitchcock makes an appearance in the Netflix series, given that The Ed Gein Story incorporates media commentary of Gein’s crimes.

It seems the actor playing Hitchcock got quite the prosthetic makeover for the role, creating the director’s balding appearance.

But some eagle-eyed viewers have seen straight through the makeover, and have revealed exactly where they recognise him from.

It turn’s out the actor who plays Hitchcock is English actor Tom Hollander.

You might know him as the baddie from Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, Jim Beach from Bohemian Rhapsody, or Corky from The Night Manager.

He just happens to be a BAFTA-winning, SAG-winning, Emmy/Tony/Olivier nominee.

And some fans were quick to realize.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one said: “I’m only just hearing that Tom Hollander is in that Ed Gein show playing Hitchcock. Insanity.”

As another wrote: “The real monster is whoever cast Tom Hollander as Hitchcock. Also Ed Gein is the real monster. But that casting director, too.”

“Tom Hollander as Alfred Hitchcock in Monster: The Ed Gein Story,” a third wrote.

“Unrecognisable but instantly recognisable.

“What a piece of casting!”
