A ‘horrifying’ new movie is so brutal it’s making viewers throw up.
A new horror film is shaking audiences to their core — and it’s not just critics who are impressed.
The latest offering from Australian twin filmmakers Danny and Michael Philippou has been generating intense reactions both in cinemas and online.
Viewers have been left fainting, crying, and even physically sick after watching what some are calling one of the most unsettling horror films in years.
One viewer posted: “Horror movies don’t scare me much, but this one made me want to literally cry.”
In a separate post, another added: “Best scary movie I’ve seen in a long, long time. I have never been squeamish or on the edge of my seat.”
A further viewer went on to describe it as ‘probably the most disturbing movie I’ve ever seen’ and warned: “This is not for the faint of heart. I have never been disturbed in my life until now.”
The Philippous made their feature film debut in 2022 with Talk to Me, which followed a group of teens who discover a way to communicate with the dead using a severed, embalmed hand.
That film became an unexpected box office hit, earning $92 million worldwide against a $4.5 million budget, and established the brothers as fresh voices in horror, per Metro.
Now they’ve returned with a chilling tale about grief, trauma, and the supernatural.
The story follows siblings Andy (Billy Barratt) and Piper (Sora Wong), who are placed into foster care after the sudden death of their father.
They’re sent to live with Laura (Sally Hawkins), a seemingly kind foster mother hiding dark secrets, including a disturbing obsession with occult rituals.
As the children begin to uncover what’s happening in the remote Adelaide home, they are drawn into a nightmarish sequence of events that has left some viewers ‘screaming out loud in cinemas.’

According to Collider, the film: “Captures the darkness and fear of losing someone, all while making one of the year’s best horror films.”
Variety called it ‘a lavish sensation of malevolent shock,’ and The Curb described it as ‘unutterably sad as it is disturbingly frightening.’
Viewer reactions have been even more visceral.
“We’ve had three faintings at the screenings,” Danny Philippou said during an interview on The Project.
On Reddit, one user claimed: “This movie was so shocking I almost threw up in the car park.”
The film currently holds an 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has been praised for combining psychological depth with terrifying visuals.
With Bring Her Back, the Philippou brothers seem to have not only matched but perhaps exceeded the intensity of their debut, cementing their place as leading voices in modern horror.
